Japan / Tokyo Office Director of Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival
Born in 1966, Asako Fujioka spent childhood years in New York and Duesseldorf, Germany. Since 1993, she works with Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival. Also, she has coordinated New Asian Currents program, a collection of films and videos by emerging documentarists from around Asia from 1995 to 2003. Since 1997, she is the main crew for New Cinema from Japan, the pioneer initiative supporting producers and directors presenting new Japanese films overseas. Bridging film cultures and audiences, she is also actively working as interpreter and translator for international film affairs.
ZHANG Xian Min
China / Professor of Beijing Film Academy, Producer, Programmer
Born in 1964, Zhang Xian Min attended Beijing Foreign Languages University and Paris Sorbonne III. In 1992, after graduating FEMIS in France, he started teaching at Beijing Film Academy. Since then, he has featured as an actor in Zhang Ming's [Rain clouds over Wushan](1994) and Lou Ye's [Summer Palace](2004), wrote and translated film-related books, and directed 3 documentary films. Recently, he organized CDFF, China Documentary Film Festival) and The 3rd China Independent Film Festival. As a professor of Beijing Film Academy, he was the President of the organization committee for a screenplay competition called Golden Words Awards and participated in ISFVF, the International Student Film and Video Festival as a programmer.
Jane H.C. YU
Taiwan / Director of BOOK MEETS FILM Forum, Taipei Book Fair
A programmer and film critic, Jane YU also teaches film art courses in university. Since 1990s, she had been programming for Women Make Waves Film Festival, Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival, Taiwan International Documentary Festival, Taipei Film Festival, and etc. She is also actively involved with many film festivals including Busan International Film Festival, Netpac, FIPRESCI, Women's Film Festival in Seoul, Yamagata International Documentary Festival, Singapore International Film Festival as a jury member. She has written and translated various books on films, and is now writing a book about the award winning editor & long time partner, CHEN Po-Wen. She is a founding member of AND (Asian Network of Documentary) and serves as one of AND selection committee members. She is now working with Taipei Book Fair to organize a trade forum called BOOK MEETS FILM.
Thailand / Deputy Director of Film Archive (Thailand)
Chalida Uabumrungjit studied films and film archiving in Thailand and the UK. In 2002, she received Asia Public Intellectual Grant(API) to do research on Japanese documentary. She is one of the founding members of Thai Short Film and Video Festival which she served as Festival Director since 1997. She also works as programmer for Asian Documentary and Short films of Bangkok International Film Festival. She has coordinated Thai film programs for various film festivals such as Coming of Age of New Thai Cinema (Hong Kong), Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival (Canada), Asian Film Symposium (Singapore), Thai Film Festival (Japan) and the Pordenone Silent Film Festival (Italy). She's currently working as a deputy director at Film Archive in Thailand.
