Born in 1950 in French, Daniel DESHAYS majored in theatre and film. He has been internationally recognized as a sound designer since 1974 through his diverse sound works for radio, dance, theatre, film and TV. He worked with many foremost directors from especially France and he did sound recording for a dozen of movies and composed over 20 movies including The Eighties (1983, dir. Chantal Anne Akerman) and American Stories, Food, Family, and Philosophy (1988, dir. Chantal Anne Akerman), Let the Boat Break Its Backs, Let the Junk Break Open (2001, dir. Rithy Panh), Look at Me (2004, dir. Agnes Jaoui. He worked with the director Philippe Garrel for The Birth of Love (1993), The Wind of the Night (1999), Wild Innocence (2001), and Regular Lovers (2005). In their latest collaboration, Frontier of Dawn (2008) invited Cannes Film Festival in 2008.

An acclaimed sound technician traveling freely between fiction and documentary. Starting his career with the documentary collective Ogawa Productions, he went on to work with emerging directors such as Naomi Kawase, Nobuhiro Suwa and Shinji Aoyama, designing the sound for both their fiction and documentary films. He is also known for working internationally with foreign directors filming in Japan. His sound works includes A Japanese Village, Furuyashikimura (1982, dir. Shinsuke Ogawa), M/Other (1999, dir. Nobuhiro Suwa), H Story (2001, dir. Nobuhiro Suwa), Kya Ka Ra Ba A (2001, dir. Naomi Kawase), Sad Vacation (2007, dir. Aoyama Shinji), Young Yakuza (2007, dir. Jean-Pierre Limosin), and Shadow of Sand (2008, dir. Yusuke Kaida).
