World Documentary Exchange (WDE) - intercontinental documentary network launched
The International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA / Netherlands), HOT DOCS (Canada) and Busan's Asian Network of Documentary (AND / Korea), representing Europe, North America, and Asia, respectively, have formed an intercontinental documentary network, named the World Documentary Exchange (WDE). The WDE plans to boost the possibilities of multinational co-production and investment in documentary films, while at the same time broadening the opportunities for exchanges between promising documentary filmmakers from each continent..
* Inviting European sales companies to Busan
Aiming to encourage comprehensive understanding between different markets, Busan invites more European sales companies to the Asian Film Market. European sales companies can explore business opportunities in the Asian market but they can also discover Asian documentaries with differing point of views.
* AND clinic opening a window to international market
AND clinic is a workshop designed to help Asian documentary filmmakers to develop their work with a greater focus on project creativity. In a bid to keep pace with WDE, this year's AND clinic will broaden its base of support in a bid to familiarize Asian filmmakers with the international market. Specially invited 'mentors' with a comprehensive knowledge on the subject will be on hand to provide an introduction and practical advice on all aspects of breaking into the international market.
* Cross-continental Interchange between documentary professionals
AND will organize a special meeting for European sales companies and European documentary filmmakers, in which they will liaise with documentary experts from Asian markets and build up a network of contacts from the region.
The WDE was launched under the aegis of MEDIA Mundus.
