Synopsis
It`s another world inside the mining shaft. There`s no wind and not even air. Sometimes people die from a fallen rock or from gas suffocation. That is why these women always make a cross before entering the mining shaft. At 5,600m above sea level, the first mining village of Chorolque lies right beneath the sky. This is where the women miners, these women with tenacious hold on life live at.
Director's Note
I have always been interested in various kinds of lives different from me. Several months ago, I was in Bolivia for a shoot where I happened to hear about the story of the lives of unique women who live in a village. Their life story made a strong impression on me. At that moment, I soon decided to visit this not-so-easily-reached country again to meet these women who are living at a place on the opposite side of the earth from Korea.
