Director's Profile Baek studied at the Korean Academy of Film Arts and made short films such as [Daytrippers] (2004) and [Darling] (2005). His short film [The French Lieutenant’s Woman] (2007), based on the novel by John Fowles, was screened at the Wide Angle section of the 12th PIFF. [Members of the Funeral] (2008), which was produced through the Advanced Program of KAFA, and was screened at the New Currents section of the 13th PIFF and the Forum section of the Berlin International Film Festival.
Synopsis
Kwang-ho, an obese fifteen-year-old, is very angry. His mother, who is everything to him, is going out with a woman named Sook-hee, and has even started living with her. Sook-hee, a former national Taekwondo athlete, is huge, speaks like a hoodlum, and eats like a beggar. Sometimes, she gives his mother a black eye, and then begs for forgiveness the next morning. Kwang-ho wishes that Sook-hee were dead. He murmurs that he will kill her for his mother.
