Director's Profile Goh Tae-Jeong graduated from Korean Academy of Film Arts (KAFA) and started her career by joining the production team for All for Love (2005). Her short film Everyone, Shut Up! (2007) was invited to Mise-en-Scene short film festival, Seoul Film Festival, Prague Short Film Festival, and New York Asian Film Festival. The Room Nearby (2008), a KAFA project, was invited to the 13th Busan International Film Festival.
Synopsis
Dong-hee, His mobile phone rings and as expected, the call is from a strange girl, Kyung-mi. She always calls Dong-hee at the end of each year and talks nonstop, which drives him crazy. At the year-end party with middle school classmates, Dong-hee happens to get a diary belonging to Kyung-mi, but can’t return it because of her sudden death. He doesn’t know what to do with it, now even more after reading about an article of the deceased friend. He is afraid of the bad karma that will follow him, if he throws the diary away. Dong-hee begins to meet the friends in the dairy to find her family, but instead he encounters her sealed memories.
Director's Note
Assuming to know everything about someone else’s live is completely false, because a person cannot be duplicated, and that much I know. Our falsehood and pretence are nothing more than just heartbreaking struggle to exit and survive within the crowd.
