Director's Profile | A storyteller. Born as the daughter of hearing impaired parents, she believes that it was her fate to become a storyteller and writes and also makes documentary films. She dropped out of high school when she was 18 years old and traveled to Southeast Asia. Based on her experience of traveling alone, she published two books The Road is a School (2009) and Road-Schooler (2009). She graduated from the School of Film, TV & Multimedia at Korea National University of Arts, majoring in Broadcasting. She directed and edited a feature documentary film Glittering Hands, portraying the glittering world of her deaf parents, seen from the perspective of the daughter/director. The work was released in April 2015 and won the Jury’s Special Mention Prize in New Asian Currents section of the Yamagata International Documentary Festival. She also published a book of the same name Glittering Hands (2015). |
