2026 Guidelines

2025 Script Development Fund
SUBMISSION DATES 23 March – 13 April 2026, 23:59 (KST/GMT+9)
CATEGORIES Asian Project
  • - The writer-director of the project must hold Asian nationality, excluding Korean nationals.
AFA / BAFA Project
  • - The writer-director of the project must be an alumnus (or alumna) of the Busan International Film Festival’s CHANEL X BIFF Asian Film Academy (BAFA) / Asian Film Academy (AFA).
ELIGIBILITY The project must be the director’s first or second feature-length fiction film.
The project must contain distinct Asian elements in its story, theme, characters, or setting.
The director must have experience directing at least one short or feature film.
Applicants must be a writer-director or a team of a writer and a director, all of whom hold Asian nationality (excluding Korean nationals).
*The producer(s) of the project is not required to hold Asian nationality.
The script must be the applicant’s original work.
BENEFITS A cash grant of 10 million KRW
Official selection for the Asian Project Market (APM) 2026, with a formal invitation to participate in the market.
HOW TO APPLY Complete and submit the online application form

※ Upon submission, you will receive an automated confirmation email with a link to modify your application. Modifications are permitted only until the deadline.
REQUIRED MATERIALS Online Application Form
  • - Project Information (Title, Budget, Production Plan, etc.)
  • - Logline (Max 300 characters including spaces)
  • - Synopsis (Max 1,200 characters including spaces)
  • - Director’s Statement of Intent (Max 2,000 characters including spaces)
  • - Director’s Profile & Filmography (Max 1,500 characters including spaces)

Additional Requirements
  • - Treatment (5–10 pages, 11pt, PDF format / Visual treatments are not accepted)
  • - Director’s Previous Work (Up to 2 films via online links / English subtitles are mandatory for non-English works / Trailers, music videos, or commercials are not acceptable)
  • - Optional: Additional supporting documents for the project may be submitted.

※ Online links must remain accessible until the end of June 2026.
※ DVDs are not accepted.
※ All attachments must be in PDF format and may not exceed 5 MB per file.
SELECTION Total Selections: 3 projects
Selection results will be individually announced via email in early June 2026.
Funding will be provided after the 31st Busan International Film Festival.
OBLIGATIONS OF SELECTED PROJECTS Recipients must sign a Fund Agreement.
The project will be officially selected for the Asian Project Market (APM) 2026. At least one representative must participate in the APM 2026.
Recipients must submit any additional materials requested by the ACF.
Recipients must submit a working draft and the completed script after receiving the cash grant.
The completed film must include the ACF opening title card and the BIFF, ACFM, and ACF logos in the end credits.
BIFF, ACFM, and ACF logos must be included in all promotional materials.
Project updates must be shared regularly and may be used for promotional purposes.
NOTES FOR SUBMISSION All notifications will be sent exclusively via email. Please ensure the provided email addresses are correct.
Applicants may submit only one project per fund.
Resubmission of previously submitted projects is not accepted.
Projects previously selected for the Asian Project Market (APM) are not eligible to apply.
All application materials must be submitted in English.
Applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.
Incomplete applications or those containing false information may be excluded without prior notice.
Individual feedback on selection results or projects will not be provided.
